Materials and Care

The vast majority of our products feature D-colour perfect cut moissanite diamonds and the metal parts are all 14K gold plated with 925 silver. They are also protected by our unique protective coating technology, which resists water, oxidation and wear and tear.

Do moissanite diamonds need special care?

Moissanite diamonds are durable and relatively easy to care for, but like all gemstones, they benefit from proper maintenance to keep their brilliance. Here's how to care for them:

  1. Cleaning: Moissanite stones can accumulate dirt and oils, which may dull their sparkle. Clean them regularly with warm water, a mild soap, and a soft brush or cloth. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a lint-free cloth.

  2. Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Although moissanite is durable, harsh chemicals found in cleaning products can damage the metal settings or cause buildup on the stone. Avoid exposure to household cleaners, bleach, and chlorine.

  3. Storage: To prevent scratches, store moissanite jewelry separately from other pieces, ideally in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box. Although moissanite is very hard, other gemstones or metals can still cause damage if they come into contact.

  4. Check Settings: Occasionally, inspect the settings to ensure the stone is secure. Loose settings can cause the stone to fall out, so have it professionally checked if needed.

  5. Professional Cleaning: If the stone loses its luster over time, consider professional cleaning to restore its full brilliance.

By following these steps, your moissanite jewelry will maintain its sparkle and beauty over time.

What is the difference between 14K gold plating and real 14K gold?

Our 14K gold-plated jewelry offers several key advantages:

  1. Price Advantage: Compared to solid 14K gold, our gold-plated pieces are significantly more affordable, providing a luxurious look without the high cost. This makes them an excellent choice for everyday wear or for those seeking an elegant look on a budget.

  2. Extended Color Retention: We go beyond standard gold plating by adding an additional protective coating over the 14K gold layer. This innovative coating helps maintain the jewelry's beautiful color and shine for an extended period, ensuring it stays looking new for much longer than traditional plating.

  3. Superior Durability: Our 14K gold-plated jewelry is designed to be more resistant to wear and tear. The added protective layer increases scratch resistance and overall durability, making it even more hard-wearing than solid 14K gold in some cases. This ensures your jewelry stays in pristine condition with regular use.

Can it be immersed in seawater or water for long periods of time?

Our products through the formal inspection agency SGS salt spray test, the test for the product 8 months since the continuation of corrosive salt spray can always maintain its plating colour, without any fading phenomenon. The test is still ongoing.
Therefore, we are sure that our products are more colour and wear-resistant than the traditional plating process.
Short-term exposure to water or seawater is permissible, but we still do not recommend long-term exposure to water or seawater in order to prolong the life of the product.

How should I store my jewellery?

You should store your jewelry with care to ensure its longevity and prevent damage. Here are some general guidelines on how to store your jewelry:

1. Store Separately:Store each piece of jewelry separately to prevent them from scratching, tangling, or damaging each other. You can use small pouches, jewelry boxes, or compartments within a jewelry organizer for this purpose.

2. Keep it Dry: Moisture can damage jewelry over time, so make sure to store it in a dry place. Consider using silica gel packets or desiccants to absorb excess moisture in your storage area.

3. Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can fade or damage gemstones and affect the color of metals. Store your jewelry away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

4. Keep Away from Chemicals: Strong chemicals in other brand's perfumes, hair sprays, cosmetics, makeup removers, body oil, sunscreen, deodorant, and cleaning products can damage your jewelry. Always remove your jewelry before using these products. For RAPHAE fragrances, you can either lightly spray a small amount on the jewelry's surface or apply a drop inside the jewelry that can hold perfume.

5. Label or Organize: If you have a large jewelry collection, consider labeling or organizing your pieces by type, occasion, or style to make it easier to find what you need.

By following these storage guidelines, you can help ensure that your jewelry remains in good condition.

How should I clean my jewellery?

You should clean your jewelry with care to maintain its appearance and shine. Here are some cleaning guidelines:

1. Use a soft cloth: Please use the soft, non-abrasive, and lint-free cloth or chamois enclosed in your order to clean your jewelry gently. This is to remove dirt, oils, or fingerprints. This is usually sufficient to maintain the jewelry's shine.

2. Handle Gemstones with Care: If your jewelry has gemstones, handle them with extra care. Some gemstones can be sensitive to cleaning solutions, so it's best to use gentle methods. Avoid using brushes or abrasive cleaners that may damage the gemstones.

3. Avoid Soaking or Harsh Cleaners: Avoid soaking jewelry in water, especially if it contains gemstones. Additionally, steer clear of "dip" or abrasive jewelry cleaners as they can potentially harm your jewelry.

4. Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect your jewelry to ensure there are no loose gemstones, damaged clasps, or other issues. Identifying and addressing these problems promptly can extend the life of your jewelry.

Please note that different types of jewelry may require different cleaning methods, and if you are unsure about how to clean a particular piece of jewelry, you can also email us.

How can I protect my jewelry while I'm wearing it?

To protect your jewelry while you're wearing it and ensure it stays in good condition, here are some tips:

1. Remove Jewelry When Swimming: Chlorine in swimming pools and saltwater can be particularly damaging to jewelry. Always take off your jewelry before swimming to prevent potential corrosion or damage.

2. Protect from Physical Impact: Be mindful of physical activities and try to avoid situations where your jewelry might get knocked or bumped. Remove delicate pieces when engaging in strenuous activities or sports to prevent damage.

3. Avoid Excessive Moisture: Moisture can harm jewelry over time, especially if it contains porous gemstones like opals or pearls. Remove your jewelry before bathing or showering, and consider removing it before bedtime to prevent sweat and moisture buildup.

4. Secure Clasps and Fastenings: Make sure clasps, hooks, and fastenings are securely closed to prevent accidental loss. Regularly check for loose or damaged clasps.

5. Rotate Pieces: Avoid wearing the same jewelry pieces every day. Give them a break to prevent excessive wear and tear.

6. Choose Protective Coating Products: We offer protective coating options for some of our products, such as rhodium plating for white gold. These coatings can provide an additional layer of protection against wear and tarnish.

7. Store Properly When Not Wearing: When you're not wearing your jewelry, store it in a dry and secure place. Use individual pouches or compartments to prevent pieces from scratching or tangling.

By following these tips, you can help protect your jewelry and keep it looking beautiful for years to come.
